How To Care For Your Engagement Ring

RING CARE

Preserving your jewelry for generations to come requires proper care and precautions. Following basic guidelines will help protect your jewelry from damage and wear.

Do's

Clean your jewelry on a regular basis (every 3-4 weeks).

Inspect your jewelry for noticeable signs of wear (check for loose stones, snagged prongs, or warping bands)

Take off your jewelry when doing harmful activities.

Place your ring in secure places when you take it off.

Don'ts

Don’t sleep wearing your fine-jewelry. Gold is a soft metal and can wear down over time & prongs are at risk of lifting or breaking when caught on bedding.

Don’t wear your ring to the gym or while lifting weights.

Avoid cleaning with your jewelry on & covering your jewelry in lotion, makeup, or other harsh chemicals.

Home Care

A simple home remedy for cleaning your gold jewelry is to mix a little dish soap with warm water in a bowl. Let the gold soak for 2-3 minutes. Remove the jewelry and scrub gently with a soft, clean toothbrush. Dry with a microfiber cloth and finish by polishing with a jewelry cloth. Repeat as often as needed. This process is safe for jewelry with diamonds and most faceted gemstones. Avoid prongs when drying and polishing to prevent loosening stones.
