Urnisha + Efrain

Efrain and I met in college. We gradually became friends and eventually Efrain asked me on a date, to his surprise, I said yes! We've been together ever since.

We come from different cultures and religions and at first our relationship seemed impossible. We didn't know what was going to happen. But we knew we had quickly become the other's person and couldn't imagine life apart. Efrain was really patient, I kept our relationship a secret from my parents for 6.5 years. My parents were more conservative, we met young, and I was worried my parents would think I was making a mistake or being naive, and not accept our relationship because of our differing backgrounds (think My Big Fat Greek Wedding aka culture shock).

We knew we wanted to get married. So once we had established a solid foundation to our relationship and met our personal goals (finished our degrees, gotten full time jobs), I mustered up the courage to tell my parents everything. Once it was all out there, we were met with more love, acceptance, and excitement from our family and friends than we ever imagined. Six months later Efrain proposed on our 7 year anniversary in Barcelona, Spain.
