Sophie + Nicholas
the wedding story
I got ready with my girls at my childhood home of 24 years while Nick got ready in our new home. I enjoyed one final walk around my family’s woods unmarried and Nick went garage sale shopping with the guys to kill time and ebb the nerves a bit.
The first time we saw each other at the ends of the aisle will be a moment I’ll never forget. I’ve truly never felt more at peace, reassured, and in touch with a moment in my life. His smile was radiant, and he looked more handsome than any man could dream of looking.
Walking around Stillwater, MN with our bridal party was full of laughs, excitement, and a surprising bit of rain. Can’t complain though, we wanted a bit on the wedding day for good luck!
At sunset, Nick, myself, our photographer, and her husband drove to a nearby bluff to take a break from the hubbub of the reception and for Nick and me to finally enjoy a moment of just the two of us. Suddenly, from the edge of the rain clouds in the west, God blessed us with the most beautiful pink sunset. This was reminiscent of the golden, rainy sunset we got during the proposal and we couldn’t stop smiling at our good fortune.
We played bingo, ate pizza, shared cocktails and stories, and just enjoyed the evening as opposed to a big dance party. Our wedding was only 60 of our closest family and friends and we wanted to enjoy that time the way we always do: playing games and telling tales. It was perfect.
