How to pair your engagement ring
What is a wedding band?
Wedding bands symbolize your eternal love and commitment to your partner and are typically exchanged on your wedding day. Traditionally, the wedding band is placed under your wedding ring to be closer to your heart. However, it is a personal choice and can be worn on top of the ring or in a stack to create the look you love.
Historically, wedding bands have been fairly simple gold bands, but recently wedding bands have become more stylized by adding diamonds, stones, or engravings. These wedding bands capture your personality and represent your story as a couple.
There are important factors to consider when choosing a wedding band to pair with your engagement ring. Different pairing styles include straight or gap bands that pair flush with the engagement ring and contoured bands that can leave negative space for a more unique look. Many of our rings are part of a wedding set or you can find a band that you feel complements your ring and style.

straight bands
Straight bands are typically paired with rings that sit higher off your finger like cathedral or solitaire settings. They can also be paired with lower set rings to create a style with negative space between the rings.

How to Pair
If you prefer the wedding band to sit flush with your engagement ring, you will need to consider the height of the head holding the stone. Some are set on top of the shank and allow a straight band to sit flush. Other styles have a lower head and only a band made to contour around the stone will be able to sit flush.
If you know that you will want to pair the engagement ring with a straight band, make sure to choose one with a head that will allow this. We are happy to help customize styles to have higher heads if you are interested! Please click here to access our custom design form.
